Arrows out for smash and grab win over Zanaco
Red Arrows will return to action on Friday, 31 December, when they take on Zanaco in the Zambian Super League.
The match with Zanaco was scheduled to be played earlier in the season, but it had to be postponed. The FA decided to re-schedule the game for New Year’s Eve, which Red Arrows will most likely welcome as they are in red hot form now.
Arrows are currently on a five-game winning streak in the ZSL and are in fifth place on the log with 26 points. The game on Friday will serve as a catch-up match as the Arrows have two games in hand. At the moment they are four points behind the current log leaders Green Buffaloes who have 30 points, so should they be able to grab wins from the two games, Arrows will move to the log leaders.
Goals from Ricky Banda and an own goal from Zimbabwe midfielder Thabani Kamusoko gave Arrows a 2-1 victory over defending champions Zesco in their last match.
The win highlighted the teams’ credentials and made the league, fans, and media notice the potential in the team. Arrows management and coaching staff have been building a team that will be able to challenge for top honours, and optimism is high within the Arrows camp.
