Daring Club Motema Pembe games postponed

22 December 2021

Daring Club Motema Pembe’s Linafoot league season has been plagued with postponements that have disrupted their momentum.

Their fixture against Maniema Union was scheduled for last week, Sunday 19 December and was pushed back. Their next game against RC Kinshasa is also likely to be postponed. However, given the state of the world fighting the Covid-19 pandemic, postponements have had to be something football adjusts to.

DCMP’s last league match was on Thursday, 16 December, against Kuya Sport. Before that, they played two games against Dauphins Noris and Renaissance, bagging wins for each game.

When DCMP met Kuya Sports, they hoped to get a third win on the spin, but instead, they played out to an entertaining 2-2 draw, a match that was a spectacle for both sets of fans and neutrals.

Kuya Sport took the lead during the opening stages of the first half. After falling behind, DCMP controlled the game and managed to get back on level terms thanks to an equalizer by William Likuta Luezi.

DCMP continued to create chances during the half; they had about four opportunities but failed to convert. The teams went to the break level at 1-1.

In the second half, DCMP continued to boss the match. They looked like the side most likely to find the second goal; however, it was not to be. Kuya Sport took the lead through a powerful long-range shot by one of their midfielders. DCMP searched for the equalizer but credit to the Kuya Sport goalkeeper, who made multiple brilliant saves.

With the match in stoppage time, DCMP won a free kick 30 meters from goal. South African winger Riyaad Norodien placed the ball with conviction and followed that with a powerful strike directing the ball straight to the top left of the post. Norodien’s wonderful free-kick was enough to gain a point for the side.

DCMP is now in fifth place on the log with 18 points after ten games. The side is definitely on the up, and they would have continued to collect points had their games not been postponed. The club has played lots of games when you consider the league and CAF Confederations matches. The enforced break will help them refresh and hit the ground running when they resume their league campaign in 2022.
